sigh... so much time has passed since my last post, i haven't the SLIGHTEST idea where to begin.
many things have changed, some things are thankfully, the same.
i've moved house, and now live alone. there's just one mattress here, which means my friends hate visiting cause there's no place really for them to sit, unless we huddle together like teenage girls around a diary!
i have also not started up my kitchen... it lies, over-stocked with utensils and crockery but no actual ingredients/condiments/foodstuff . pappush accuses me constantly for it, and i lamely put it down to laziness, an imagined hectic-ness and my fear of going to the market for fear of being gypped by vegetable and fruit sellers.
but those two WEE lapses aside, it's a very purdy place and i'd take extreme pride in showing it off; IF i had any friends who weren't wise to the actual inhospitality of it... sigh!
on the unchanging front, the job's the same, the friends are the same and mumbai's still overcrowded.
speaking of mumbai, i had a chance recently to visit 2 other countries and have returned feeling terribly dissatisfied at the crap we put with, and then rationalise with the great Indian, media-endorsed values of TOLERANCE and JUGAAD.
Bullshit! we're failing ourselves AND patting ourselves on the backs for it... supreme dumbass'ness if i ever saw any!
am i going to provide the solution? hell no... i'm the fence-sitter, i just tell it like it is from my high seat. cribber-bitch, useless non-contributing lump of lard, waiting to be SAVED (i'm exaggerating, but not by much)
i'd answer 'why the title?', and tell you more about me; but then we'd have to be friends. let's save that that for later, shall we?

the creature lives
it's been centuries since i came through here. 'and what's been happening all this time?' you may ask.
much. and little, if that makes any sense, i suspect it does.
much, because it's happening to us (how important we are!) and little because we are just that, little. and silly, and inflated with our senses of self.
so i won't bore you with the much. instead, i'll tell you about the little. small things i have stumbled upon in my cyber neighbourhood are bothering me tremendously-
a) my pal liz recently made her blog 'by invite only'. and because i'm an ass, i didn't realise this until quite recently. she's forgotten to send me an invite, so here i am on a sunday evening, vauguely depressed and wishing i could read her posts, but i can't.
b) my cousin hari seems to have shut down his blog. which is an awful thing. i'll miss his a lot. it was irreverent and refreshingly impersonal (barring a few posts, his were all unravellings of various ideas that he'd come across in whatever he was reading right then, or in conversation. which is a great thing. as opposed to being rants about me! me! me!
outside of this neighbourhood, my life is set to undergo a pretty big change. after close to 2 years. i will be moving out soon to a place of my own (well, a rented one anyway) and the feelings range from 'ho-hum' to 'whee!' to nervousness, the whole hog.
i'm not terribly good at being alone, so it's gonna be interesting to note what the whole experience is going to throw up. mostly, it's going to be a HUGE challenge to shake of my laziness and be responsible for filling my time. there are various things on my list... if only my fat arse/money/time will permit. and they are...
- buy a guitar, and start taking lessons (sankbaba and mahaya will applaud this the loudest, i know)
- the slow and (i hope) fun process of filling my new (small) 1RK with stuff.
- joining a pool, swimming in the mornings.
- learning how to cook. and finding out how the things i make will taste.
- writing in this blog more often, getting out there and making new friends online (no, not in that sleazy, 'come party with me' way)
- having the nerve to go to clubs or Friday Club things by myself (i normally go with my brother, equally bad at mingling and more involved in the music)
there's a bunch more stuff if i put my mind to it. but getting back to writing i hope will be a definite fallout to the whole thing. i started a funny thing recently, for a lark. i am composing a story, in very small, 160 character-sized installments. how do i know the letter count? cause i'm sms'ing them. one little installement at a time, to a friend of mine. i don't save them as i send them. which means, i lose the thread and i don't, as of now, have an idea where it's all heading.
as with any creative endeavour, interest in the project waxes and wanes (it's on the wane now) but i have asked him to transfer them (using blue tooth or whatever gizardry he can think of) to his laptop or some such. so that i can visit it sometime and view in totality the bits i have been aribity spewing forth.
wish me luck. with this, and everything else i am due to undertake. mmmuwahh!

god's own ball-of-snot
hello peeps!
am back from a hectic work week in lucknow and ambala (to which place the title of this post refers)! heheh, coined that in a reply to mahaya's mail a while back, i like the sound of it- truly, it's a cruddy place!
but more on that later, personal update:
- had a couple of epiphanies over the week.
- have you heard 'i'm gonna wash that man right outta my hair'? well it's happened! hurrah and hallelujah! i've washed him off!
- was generally crabby and mean to my c'pokli babies last night- apology tendered here, but must also make the effort in letting each one know personally that i was a turd :(
by now, my dinner has congealed into a cold, sad mess- am off to sustain myself and contemplate the fine'ness that is me!
heh heh. g'nite.

google me this
sigh.. this blogging biz'ness is a bit of a menace.
it is. well, if you're commitment-phobic like me anyway.
(it waxes & wanes from mild, to full-blown 'get-out-of-here!', depending on what i've taken up, and would now like to diss)
let's take this blog, my fence-sitting, ramble-spittoon; it niggles the back of my skull with its being, and gnaws me into worrying about it.
so here i am, on a fine saturday afternoon trying to figure out what to say to it.
right, life update!
(in my own random, terrible-memory assisted fashion)
1. back from jaipur
2. been doing some great eats, but i'm only going to give small shout-outs in this post to:
- flamboyente- the pretentiously-named, kinda over-priced, but for-all-that rather decent, pan-asian place that's opened in my office building (praise be!)
- moshe's- more more! been there twice after and have had a lovely time, both times
- fassos- in pune, didn't actually go there, but had excellent mutton-on-basmati (which is to say, NOT biriyani) delivered home and it rocked! and yes, i still have to try those boti-wraps.
- flags- again, the one in pune. and it was lovely, have now put the one in mumbai on my list of semi-swish, escape-from-office-pantry lunch places.
3. met up with a new friend whom i'd only been chatting with until that point, and spent a lovely saturday hanging out with him, and his friend
4. went away to pune to do some more hanging out with the afore-mentioned two new people. and again, it was great. blissed out and relaxing in the best way.
5. through all of this, have been nursing a debilitating and sense-numbing crush on an entirely unsuitable someone.
6. feeling vaguely bridget-jones'ish through it all without the silver lining of a colin firth-type waiting in the wings for me to get over my stupidity (er, not that the chap's an 'emotional fuckwit' or anything. actually, if i think of it, he's more colin firth than hugh grant- dammit!)
7. sigh, now spending my days sternly lecturing myself out of the silliness that has been my state of mind these past few months and into... dunno yet, a better place anyway.
which brings me to the things i've been doing/plan to do, to get to that better place.
- been hanging with my darlings in c'pok- sodab, jonty, kappu, sahu, beju, hugs galore!
- having looong phone calls with liz, my most-popo, to save what's left of my sanity and generally know that i'm worth much more than the rubbish i usually subject myself to.
- went away to pune to hang with thunk and mahaya; in a move that's a complete break from my otherwise hate-to-inflict-myself-upon-you, vaguely-awkward-around-new-people self.
- am buying a guitar! (and hoping deeply that the move does not fan the afore-mentioned p-h-o-b-i-a, plus my bloody finances have to allow for it)
- will continue to hang out more often with the FC crowd and improve my skills at MINGLING (slight shudder)
- desperately want to go home. be around the bright-green'ness that is kerala after the rains, while ignoring all the things that made me want to leave the place; meet with sangs over a coffee and dosa at BTH or sarovaram (braving god-awful traffic)
- must visit b'lore, many people there who make me very, very happy to be around.
- and lastly, must limit self-indulgent wallowing-type posts such as this to barest minimum.
yes this has probably been a really boring, gross-type read, but i had to do it; acknowledge messily one time that i've let things slide, and i hate myself for it.
